Living
Word Christian Academy is an integral, inseparable ministry of
Living Word Christian Center.
OUR
OBJECTIVES ARE:
1.
To provide a well rounded Christian education for our youth in
spirit, soul and body.
2.
To develop strong Christian leaders to help lead this nation back
to God.
The
Holy Bible is our foundation textbook for all subjects, and Jesus
Christ is the One Lord we seek to follow. Jesus is our Master
Teacher.
We
use the Accelerated Christian Education Curriculum (A.C.E.) which
magnifies individual and personal achievement. Each student can
personally consult with the staff as often as he or she needs
to in order to understand the material.
WE
STRIVE TO DEVELOP IN EACH STUDENT:
1. The leadership of the
Holy Spirit.
2. A good conscience - right and wrong.
3. Prayer - how to talk to God.
4. Vocation - God's call for adult employment.
5. Family - God's will to marry or remain single.
6. Defense - how to obtain God's protection in a dangerous world.
7. A sharp mind - after the mind of Christ.
8. Emotional balance - after the fruit of the Spirit.
9. A strong and obedient will - after the will of God.
To
reach these objectives the Academy must produce a highly disciplined
Christian environment for its students. It is important that you
know and understand the A.C.E. program. It is not solely Living
Word Christian Academy's responsibility to educate children. God
gave the responsibility to the parent. The function of the academy
is to assist the parents in carrying out what God has given.
The
Academy staff recognizes that it cannot meet the educational needs
of all children. The Academy offers a high quality of Christian
training, but is not designed to be a correctional institution
for problems arising beyond those usually encountered in average
school children. While we love delinquent and emotionally unstable
children, the Academy is not equipped to meet their needs. Some
children do not adjust to a disciplined academic environment and
find excuse to criticize the policies and decision of the staff
and administration. In such cases, the Academy reserves the right
to have full discretion in the discipline, to place such students
on suspension and/or probation for a reasonable corrective period
of time and to dismiss any student who does not cooperate with
the total educational process. The more familiar you and your
family are with A.C.E. and with our handbook, "Our Objectives
& Standards of Conduct", the more likely your child will have
a successful learning experience.
FINANCIAL
SUPPORT AGREEMENT: Parents
must realize that God expects all things to be done decently and
in order, it is mutually agreed by and between the Parents and
the Church to meet all financial support agreements of the academy.
The set amount of one-tenth of the total Tuition & Curriculum
shall be paid on or before the 1st day of each month beginning
August 1st through May 1st.
Any
payment mentioned above shall not have been received in full by
the church-academy office by the 5th of the month in which the
payment is due a 10% late charge will be added to the unpaid balance.
Withdrawal from the church-academy can be accomplished only by
a Withdrawal Notice signed by the Parents, and only a Withdrawal
Notice in writing 4 weeks before any student's last day will stop
the Tuition charge accumulation.
VERIFICATION
OF IMMUNIZATION: It is
important that students entering The Living Word Christian Academy
be fully immunized against Polio, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Whooping
Cough), Tetanus, Measles (10 day/red measles) or Rubella (3 day
German Measles), and Mumps and Hepatitis B.
If
the student has not received all of the required immunizations,
please obtain them before attending. Otherwise the student will
be excluded until this is done or unless an exemption statement
from a physician is presented or verification of immunization
statement is signed that the above mentioned immunizations are
contrary to your beliefs.
EMERGENCY
MEDICAL PERMISSION:
An Emergency Medical Permission
slip authorizing Living Word Christian Academy to seek emergency
medical treatment for all students attending the academy must
be completed each year of enrollment.
BASIC
REQUIREMENTS & PROCEDURES:
Dress code and other
requirements of this academy are aimed at developing good Christian
character and leadership qualities. Therefore, our objectives
are to be strong Christian leaders and to look like it. We want
no compromise with the world's ways, especially those ways which
mean rebellion. "Abstain from all appearance of evil" I Thes.
5:22.
DRESS
CODE:
1.
Ladies' and Gentlemen's hair are to be within academy standards.
2. Uniforms are required during attendance at this academy.
Standards for Dress Code are published on the uniform requirement
sheet.
PARENT
/ STUDENT REQUIREMENTS:
1.
Parent/staff meetings and conferences. Five meetings required
during the year.
2. To meet all Curriculum requirements.
3. To follow all rules for Assembly, Chapel, Learning Center,
Breaks, Lunch, Physical Education, and Supplies needed.
4. To follow all Corrective Action Procedures for all who violate
the rules.
5. Students will be held responsible for their actions. Student's
behavior is to be courteous and respectful to others at all
times. There is to be no cheating, stealing, vandalism, bad
language, inappropriate physical contact, and worldly pursuits
by any student. Students and parents are to respect and honor
their agreement with the academy.
ACADEMY
ACTIVITIES: To
help promote school spirit, both students and parents are required
to support all Academy programs. All set standards, rules, and
corrective action procedure requirements are published under Basic
Procedures & Requirements which are distributed every year.
STANDARD
OF CONDUCT: The
student's attitude, conversation, and behavior reflect the character
of the institution from which he derives his training, both at
home and at school. This form reflects the academy's attempts
to secure students who would best adjust to the rigor of a highly
disciplined training program which must set high standards as
a pilot institution for an international student development program.
GENERAL
POLICY: Students
of this Christian Academy pledge to uphold the academy's standards
against cheating, swearing, smoking, gambling, drinking alcoholic
beverages, using or talking favorably (even in jest) about worldly
ways, narcotics, and using indecent language. Students are required
to act in a very orderly and respectful manner, and maintain Christian
standards in courtesy, kindness, morality, and honesty. We must
all strive for unquestionable character in dress, conduct, and
other areas of life.
Students
are expected to abide by these standards of conduct throughout
their enrollment at the academy, or elsewhere. Parents should
remember that lack of parental support, undermining of academy
staff and system, and refusal to maintain any set Standard of
Conduct, Dress Code or Learning Center rules, will reflect in
the child's attitude. Students found to be out of harmony with
this Christian academy's ideals of work and life may be asked
to withdraw whenever the administration determines that it is
necessary.
SCRIPTURAL
DISCIPLINE: Our
total program is designed to develop the spiritual and academic
qualities that characterize your child. "Train up a child in the
way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from
it." Proverbs 22:6. In order to carry out this total character
development we believe it is necessary to follow Scriptural admonitions
to correct a child when his behavior is in violation of our reasonable
rules and proper procedures. "Correct thy son and he shall give
thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul." Proverbs
29:17. "The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left to himself
bringeth his mother to shame." Proverbs 29:15.
We
use other methods of discipline when correction is needed beyond
detention. We cannot, however, give the teenager the idea that
he/she is above being disciplined,. and can "get away" with infractions
of the rules. We will do everything possible to agree on effective
alternatives with parents. If agreement cannot be reached, the
parent must withdraw the student.
ADDITIONAL
EMERGENCY CARE AGREEMENT:
Understand that there is NO
DAY CARE provided to fill the need of working parents before 7:00
a.m. and after 4:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
and after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday for all grades. In case of an emergency
proper care will be given to my child for an additional fee. I
also understand that for this Additional Emergency Care to provide
responsible care, every student on church property during Additional
Emergency Care time must be under the direct control of the Additional
Emergency Care Monitor. Therefore, I and my child agree to cooperate
with strict Additional Emergency Care rules.
Charges
for Additional Emergency Care will be for time used in quarter
hour increments. Students on Additional Emergency Care, arriving
less than the final 15 minutes before the starting bell, will
be on Additional Care but will not be charged for that time. Students
who leave promptly after the dismissal bell will be on Additional
Emergency Care until they are signed out. Those still on church
property 15 minutes after being dismissed will be charged for
Additional Emergency Care starting from the time that student
was dismissed. The rate for any student not picked up by 2:00
p.m. on Wednesday or 4:00 p.m. the rest of the week becomes $1.00
for each 1 minute period. The rate will be adjusted as necessary
to cover all costs of providing this Additional Emergency Care
for those who use it.
NOTICE
OF NONDISCRIMINATORY POLICY AS TO STUDENTS:
Living Word Christian Academy
admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin
to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally
accorded or made available to students in our church-school. We
do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic
origin in administration of educational and admissions policies,
scholarship, athletic, and other church-school administered programs.
We
cannot tell you how many students of different origins we have
attending our Academy. We purposely do not count or otherwise
distinguish between people having God-created differences.
The
following is not a complete statement of faith, but will let you
know where we stand on some of the major issues.
THE
NUMBER ONE PRIORITY:
The number one priority is soul winning. We do many things
but the one thing we believe must be first is winning people to
faith in Jesus Christ.
THE
SALVATION EXPERIENCE: We
believe that every person old enough to be accountable to God
must know when and where he deliberately received Jesus Christ
as his Savior. We simply mean that he must remember a definite
experience when he or she actually received Jesus.
THE
HOLY SPIRIT: We
believe that every person who genuinely receives Jesus as his
Savior and Lord is born of the Holy Spirit in the same experience.
We believe it is totally impossible to become a Christian without
the Holy Spirit.
Genuine believers need to be
filled with the Holy Spirit or baptized in the Holy Spirit's power
after salvation.
THE
LORD JESUS:
We believe Jesus Christ is the
Son of God, both God and Man merged in one Person, that He is
the only Savior, and that we are saved by His life, death and
Resurrection.
THE
GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT:
We believe that the Holy Spirit gives the same gifts today as
He did in the New Testament.
HEALING:
We lay hands on and anoint the sick with oil and by faith lay
hold of God's miraculous healing power.
TOUNGES:
We forbid not to speak in tongues.
We emphasize the gift of prophecy according to the instruction
of Paul. We regulate tongues according to his instructions.
THE
BIBLE: We believe
the Bible is the Word of God and that it is absolutelyate in every
detail.
BAPTISM
AND CHURCH MEMEBERSHIP:
We believe that every person who
receives Jesus as Lord should be baptized by immersion in water
into fellowship of a local body of believers. There is no such
thing as baptism without being baptized into membership of a local
church. Anyone baptized by this Church becomes a member of its
fellowship.
SALVATION:
We believe that each person is saved completely
by grace through faith. Jesus accomplished our total salvation
on the cross. Our good works are nothing but filthy rags. In a
deliberate decision of faith we trust Him, and He saves us totally
by His grace. We can claim no credit for our salvation.
ETERNAL
SALVATION:
We believe that each believer receives everlasting life, and can
never be lost under any circumstance. We do not believe the Lord
will lose you. We do not believe you can lose yourself. We believe
a saved person cannot deny His Lord, neither can His Lord deny
him.
BAPTISM
AFTER SAVLVATION:
We believe baptism is am outward clothing of righteousness and
must be done after you are actually born again. If a church member
realizes that he has not actually been saved and receives Jesus,
he should then be baptized. His baptism while he was unsaved is
invalid. Baptism can be genuine only after a true salvation experience.
EVERY
MEMBER: We
believe that it is every Christian's business to win other people
to Jesus. We believe that every new member should go to work to
bring every possible person to Jesus Christ. Every member must
give himself, his finances, his time, his energy, his capabilities,
and everything he has to promote the church's program to reach
the lost for Christ.
THE
PASTOR: We believe
the pastor is the God-called shepherd for our church. We believe
he is God's man to lead our church in our outreach program to
reach people for Christ. We believe that as long as he is faithful
to God's Word and the goal of winning the lost, we are to give
him our honest loyalty and enthusiastic support.
THE
DEACONS:
The deacons are God's servants to help the pastor lead the church.
Divorced and remarried persons
who love the Lord faithfully may serve in all other places of
service.
LOVE:
We believe the one outstanding characteristic of the pastor, the
staff, the deacons, the workers and all members is love. We are
a "fellowship of love." We love God. We love one another. In spite
of all our faults we love one another. "By this shall all men
know that we are Jesus' disciples" - that we love one another.
THE
SEPERATED LIFE:
We believe that to follow Jesus means to forsake the ways of the
ungodly world. Our lifestyle must be in harmony with our Lord's
teachings. Our walk, our talk, our dress, our social life, our
finances, our homes, our habits must not be questionable, but
honor Jesus.
AUHTORITY
AND OBEDIANCE: We
believe that every person is to obey the human authority over
him or her. Children are to obey parents. Wives are to obey husbands.
Employees are to obey employers. Everyone is to obey the government.
Each believer is to obey the supervisor over him in the Lord's
work. A believer is to obey God if his human authority is in direct
conflict with Scripture, but he must always humbly respect the
human authority regardless of the error in judgment.
MAN
AND WOMAN: We
believe that men should be men and gentlemen, and women should
be women and ladies. Children should be taught this from childhood.
The man should always be the leader where a man is available.
THE
LORD'S RETURN:
We believe in the Pre-millennial return of Christ - that is, that
the true church will soon be raptured out, the world will be engulfed
in the great tribulation, the Lord will return to reign over the
earth for 1,000 years, raise and judge the wicked at the great
white throne, the wicked consigned to burning hell forever, and
the saved to reign in the new earth with the Lord forever.
